OAKLAND CITY HALL AND FRANK H. OGAWA PLAZA VANDALIZED
Frank H. Ogawa Plaza’s amphitheater and the side of Oakland City Hall that meets the Plaza were found to be vandalized this afternoon. Both the amphitheater and the City Hall’s wall were spray painted with protests against Oakland’s recent elections. Libby Schaaf’s name, the newly elected mayor, was included in the graffiti with red Xs painted over it, in addition cries against those who voted against Measure FF, the measure to increase Oakland’s minimum, which didn’t pass in the November 4th elections.
A clean-up crew is currently at the plaza and City Hall to erase the graffiti.Frank H. Ogawa Plaza is a heart of the city, hosting the Art and Soul Festival, which hosts local artists every year, and it is home to the Coast Live Oak, the city’s symbol.

WEST OAKLAND’S DE FREMERY PARK VANDALIZED
Police were called to de Fremery Park, a recreational hub for West Oakland residents, when it was found to be vandalized early this afternoon. When the police arrived, the community gardens were trampled and torn up, and the basketball courts’ were spray painted and the hoops’ nets were cut down.
The park, which was once a key rallying area for the Black Panther Party, sits on 9.5 acres and offers a number of recreational activities and programs for both youth and adults, including basketball and tennis courts, a community swimming pool, and classes in arts and crafts, gardening, African dance and homework help.
