MAN ARRESTED IN SUSPECT OF LOCAL POLITICIAN’S MURDER
Michael Fraker was arrested this afternoon in a friend’s West Oakland home under suspicion of the murder of Oakland City Councilman Jose Gallo. Fraker, 27, has been on the run since shooting the local politician the night of November 7th.
Fraker, whose fingerprints were found on the shattered glass at the councilman’s home, has been a suspect since the beginning of the investigation, Oakland police say. The police were finally able to track him down this afternoon to 11th and Willow Street, where he was hiding in the basement of a friend’s apartment building. Fraker has been taken into custody and faces charges of third degree murder.

CITY COUNCILMAN GALLO DIES FOLLOWING HOME BREAK-IN SHOOTING
Oakland police reported today around 2:15 that City Councilman Jose Gallo died in the trauma ward of the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. His death comes two days after his Old Oakland home was broken into and he was shot by a gunman who is still at large.
Gallo served as councilman for Oakland’s Fruitvale district since 2013, where he was also a resident from the time he moved to Oakland at the age of five. Gallo was the first Hispanic elected to the Oakland School Board, of which he also served as President.
A memorial service will be held for Gallo Sunday November 16th at First Presbyterian on Broadway at 12pm.

CITY COUNCILMAN JOSE GALLO SHOT IN OAKLAND HOME
Oakland City Councilman Jose Gallo was shot when a gunman broke into his Old Oakland home tonight around 10:30pm. Gallo, 46, is in critical condition at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland City Police state.
Gallo’s wife, Maria Gallo, was home during the shooting, but managed to escape through their home’s backdoor before the gunman found her. She reported hearing glass shattering from the intruder breaking through the window and the shouts of her husband, signaling her to flee. Mrs. Gallo said she heard five gunshots before running from the house and calling 911.
Oakland police are at the Gallo’s home, investigating the scene.
